march 16'2012, Sachin hits the most awaited ton to complete his century of centuries. THE ONE MORE THAT ADD'S TO TENDULKAR'S LEGEND, THOUGH ONE LESS WOULD HAVE TAKEN NOTHING AWAY FROM IT.
It had started as a joke more than a year ago: He would get his 100th internatinal hundered with a six into the Sachin Tendulkar stand at the Wankhede Stand in the World Cup Final. Sachin got 18,
Three months later, the carnival travelled to the Lord's. The historical ground, the Mecca of Cricket was set to witness history. Master Blaster got 34 and 12, at Nottingham hill he stopped at 56. At Oval he was dismissed at heartbreaking 91.
Tendular then returned to Wankhede, but he was denied by West Indian fast bowler Ravi Rampaul just six short of the mark.
The Boxing Day Test in Melbourne is almost as grand a setting at Lord's, and so naturally the skype was sky high at the MCG, where he looked on course before falling for 73. The 80 that he got in Sydney was the nearest he could gt to the myhtical figure on the tour of Australia.
And so, when he was named in the squad for the Asia Cup, critics questioned why he had chosen o play the tounament. When he got only six in the first game against Sri Lanka, Sachin waited for the third umpire to decide it the catch has been taken cleanly. THE NEXT DAY H SPENT 70 MINUTES IN THE NETS WHILE THE REST OF HIS TEAM WAS RELAXING IN THE HOTEL. Hunger or desperation? It was a split verdict.
As he walked out to bat against Bangladesh on 16th March'12, things had reached a point where there were murmurs that this was his best chance since India were playing a lowly Bangladesh. Incredibly, over the course of one year people had forgotten that the man in front of them had already struck 99 centuries in International Cricket, and while one more would add to his legend, one less would take nothing away from it.
Tendulkar finally clipped the ball to the on side to reach what was not his most important, but perhaps his most awaited, milestone. he seemed to stand still for a while, letting it all sink in. Then the helmet came off, and slowly the arms went up.
The stadium erupted, just like it had done 99 times before.
This pst is fully dedicated to the Greatest Cricketer, the game ever had or pehaps will have.
The Great Sachin TONdulkar.
